I had the pleasure of reading the first volume of The Triple's Curse trilogy from Marsha Black last week. It was the first book I’ve read from the author, but I’m pretty sure that it's not the last one! Notwithstanding the fact that we can read her novels only in English unfortunately.
The first volume of the trilogy is entitled Hope's Story, and it was written in the very popular urban fantasy genre that I love, in which the paranormal events and the romance are easily interwoven.
Hope is one of the triplets who moves to a new city, and attends to a new school where she feels immediate attraction to Bryce, not at first glance, but at first touch. Spark between them is the first sign of a complicated relationship.
The story can be got to know through thoughts, actions of the two protagonists and via text messages between them. (I really liked that the messages seem to be realistic!)
Both characters are extremely lovable: Hope is an adroit, independent girl, who finds herself in all circumstances and does whatever for those she loves.
Bryce is a real defender and one of those rare young men who are not afraid to show his emotions honestly. The relationship between them is full of secrets and slowly all will be revealed.
After her confused visions, Hope realizes that she has no choice, because she was predestined to fight against evil.
And of course just right then the story was over, it became the most exciting.
As for me, perhaps the events spin a bit slowly, so my rating is 4 stars. Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward to the next part, Destiny's story!

Marsha Black: The Triple's Curse trilógiájának első kötetét volt szerencsém elolvasni a múlt héten. Ez volt az első könyv, melyet az írónőtől olvastam, de biztosan állíthatom, hogy nem az utolsó! Annak ellenére sem, hogy sajnálatos módon még csak angolul olvashatjuk regényeit.
A trilógia első kötete a Hope's Story címet viseli, és az általam nagyon kedvelt urban fantasy műfajában íródott, melyben a paranormális történések és a romantikus szál könnyedén fonódik egymásba.
Hope egyike a hármasikreknek, akik új városba költözve természetesen új iskolába is kerülnek, ahol is, ha nem is első látásra, de első érintésre elemi vonzódást érez Bryce iránt. A köztük felcsapó szikrák egy bonyolult kapcsolat első jelei.
A történetet a két főszereplő gondolatain, cselekedetein és SMS-ein keresztül ismerhetjük meg. (Nagyon tetszett az üzenetek valóságszerű megjelenítése!)
Mindkét karakter roppant szerethető: Hope talpraesett, önálló csajszi, aki minden körülmények között feltalálja magát, és mindent megtesz szeretteiért.
Bryce pedig egy igazi védelmező, s azon ritka fiatal férfiak egyike, akik nem félnek az érzelmeiket nyíltan felvállalni. A kettőjük közt bimbózó kapcsolat súlyos titokkal terhes, melyekre csak szép lassan derül fény.
A zavaros látomások kibontakozása során Hope rájön, hogy nincs választása, hisz előre elrendeltetett: harcolnia kell a gonosz ellen.
És persze pont olyankor lett vége történetének, amikor az a legizgalmasabbá vált....
Számomra talán egy kicsit lassan pörögnek fel az események, ezért értékelésem: 4 csillag. Ennek ellenére nagyon-nagyon várom a következő részt, Destiny történetét!

At what point of your life did you realize that you wanted to be a writer? / Az életed mely pontján tudatosult benned, hogy író akarsz lenni?
I’ve always loved to read and in elementary school my teacher loved reading that stories I wrote that we were assigned to write. So, I would have to say since back then.
Mindig is szerettem olvasni, és az iskolában a tanárnőm nagyon szerette olvasni a kiadott feladatokról szóló írásaimat. Tehát talán azt mondhatnám, hogy ettől az időponttól…
Who are your writer role models? / Kik az írói példaképeid?
I’ve recently met a lot of indie authors, some whose books I have read since becoming involved in the indie community. Outside of that I don’t have any personal writer role models and there are too many to name that I’ve met online that are so helpful to other new and writer to be’s.
Mostanában sok független íróval találkoztam, akik könyveit már olvastam mióta csatlakoztam egy független írói közösséghez. Ezen kívül nincs személyes példaképem. Sok nevet felsorolhatnék, akikkel online találkoztam, ami nagyon hasznos egy új író számára.

My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon…going off of that, I’m sure you could tell I love to read Paranormal
Stephany Wallace, Heather Renee, Mirandra Brock, Julie Hall, Jen L. Grey, Bri Amari, Ednah Walters, S.T Bende are also amazing authors.

How do you collect information for your books/characters? / Hogyan gyűjtesz anyagot a könyveidhez, karaktereidhez?
I do a little bit of google research for some things, others I just make up on my own. I love writing fiction because none of it’s real and even things that are common knowledge is still able to be twisted and turned within a story.
Egyrészt kicsit kutatok a neten, másrészt magam találom ki. Szeretek fikciót írni, mert abban semmi sem valóságos, és még a megszokott dolgok is képesek a történeten belüli váratlan fordulatokra.
In what circumstances do you write your books? How long does it take to write a book? / Milyen körülmények közt írsz? Mennyi ideig tart megírni egy könyvet?
It actually varies. I work full time, have 2 kids, one of which is a toddler, and am taking college courses. I don’t get as much time as I would if my toddler was older, but I try to get what I can in. The Triplet’s Curse – Hope’s Story took me about 6 months to finish writing and publish. I took about a month or so break from writing once it was released to spend quality time with my kids, which has caused book 2 – The Triplet’s Curse – Destiny’s Story to release much later than I had planned.
Ez változó. Teljes munkaidőben dolgozom, van két gyermekem, akik közül az egyik totyogó és egyetemi kurzusokra is járok. Szóval nincs annyi időm, mint amennyit szeretnék, majd ha a totyogó idősebb lesz, de
addig is megpróbálom megtenni, amit tudok. A Triplet’s Curse – Hope’s Story megírása és kiadása 6 hónapig tartott. A könyv kiadása után körülbelül egy hónapra félbehagytam az írást, hogy értékes időt tölthessek el a gyermekeimmel. Ezért a második könyv - The Triplet’s Curse – Destiny’s Story – sokkal később kerül kiadásra, mint terveztem.
Did you have any difficulties with publishing your first book and if you had what were those? / Jó, vagy Volt-e bármilyen nehézséged az első könyveid megjelentetésekor, és ha igen, mik voltak ezek?
Only difficulty would be that I was so excited to finish and get my book out there and read, that I didn’t have it go through editing multiple times before publishing. It’s good to have numerous sets of eyes going over the story, since they might catch something that someone else might not have.
Az egyetlen nehézséget az jelentette, hogy olyan izgatott voltam, hogy befejezzem, kiadjam és olvassam a könyvet, hogy a közzététele előtt nem volt lehetőségem átnézni. Az jó, ha több szempár nézi át a történetet, mivel észrevehet olyat, amit más nem.

I am currently working on The Triplet’s Curse – Destiny’s Story which I am looking to release in August of this year.
I am also working on a Dark Mermaid Story for the Dark Waters A Mermaid Anthology that is to be released June 30th of this year,

What would be your advices to somebody who wants to start writing? / Mit tanácsolnál annak, aki el akarja kezdeni az írást?
My advice would be to do it. No matter whether you get good or bad feedback, write it as something you would read even if no one else would. There will be people who support you and those that won’t. If it’s something you want to do, and you enjoy doing it, don’t let anything stand in your way…on the flip side…don’t let if control your life and don’t feel like a horrible writer if you don’t get a lot of sales…it’s just the way it is.
I’m the type of person that I’m grateful for any sales I make and that I just hope my books do what many books have done for me, which is be an escape from reality when I would need one.
Azt tanácsolnám, hogy csináld. Nem számít, hogy jó vagy rossz visszajelzést kapsz-e, írj olyat, amit szívesen olvasnál, még akkor is, ha más nem teszi. Lesznek emberek, akik támogatnak és olyanok is, akik nem. Ha ez az, amit szeretnél csinálni, élvezd, és ne hagyd, hogy bármi az utadba álljon… másrészt ne hagyd, hogy az eladások befolyásolják az életedet és ne érezd magad rossz írónak, ha nem jók az eladási számok… ez már csak ilyen.
Én olyan típusú ember vagyok, aki minden eladásnak nagyon örül, és remélem, hogy könyveim megadják az olvasóknak mindazt, amit sok könyv nekem is megadott: elmenekülni a valóságtól, amikor arra van szükségem.
